16.7 million people in Syria in need of humanitarian assistance
Currently, there are approximately 16.7 million people in Syria in need of humanitarian assistance, and the United Nations is unable to provide assistance due to a shortage of donor funds.
As a result, millions of people are unable to eat and dress.
The Syrian Civil War has been ongoing for 13 years since its outbreak in March 2011, with nearly 16.7 million Syrian refugees in crisis, half of whom are children. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees believes that "this is the largest refugee wave in a generation in a conflict." Among this rare refugee wave, the most noteworthy and heartbreaking are the Syrian refugee children who have suffered from the war. The call to reach out to children and open the door for them constantly urges conscientious and knowledgeable individuals in the international community to pay attention to this vulnerable group.
To this end, the International Peacekeeping Development Fund (Malaysia Branch) of the United Nations International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has set up a special fund for "Peace Aid Primary Schools" since June 1, 2024. First, it plans to build "Peace Primary Schools" in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Türkiye and other Middle East countries, so as to solve the problem of school attendance for Syrian refugee children and provide them with education opportunities, thus opening a door of hope, warmth, friendship and peace for children.
The construction of "Peace Primary School" in the Middle East will effectively improve the basic educational conditions in Syrian refugee camps, allowing children to bid farewell to the wandering situation of "no education", and to learn and live in safe, spacious, and bright classrooms built with activity boards. They will accept and convey the spirit of love and peace, promote physical and mental health, improve their learning level, and awaken their enthusiasm and desire to rebuild their own beautiful home. At the same time, it will also drive the international community's sustained attention and funding enthusiasm for Syrian refugees and refugee children.
